Senior Aeniecia Parkes has been honored with the prestigious 2024 Scholastic Art & Writing Award for her captivating poem titled "Knots," recognized by The Connecticut Writing Project—UConn, in partnership with the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.
Her work was reviewed and recognized by a panel of creative professionals, and awarded for its outstanding

merit in originality, skill, and the emergence of her personal voice and vision.
Since 1923, the Awards have recognized some of America's most celebrated artists and writers while they were teenagers, including Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Kay WalkingStick, Amanda Gorman, Charles White, Joyce Carol Oates, and Andy Warhol.

Aeniecia being welcomed into this esteemed cohort of Scholastic Awards Alumni is a true privilege and honor!

Her poem won the Gold Key award so she automatically advances to the national level of judging which takes place in NYC!
