Dear Academy of Science and Innovation Families,

I hope that you are well and enjoying some time together this summer.

I would like to initially welcome all new members to our school community and also to thank you all for your ongoing support and understanding as we, as a state, school district and school community, respond to the challenges of COVID-19.  I am very proud of the way our students, parents and staff handled the demands we were faced with while transitioning to distance learning.

As you know, there continue to be concerns and questions related to how schools plan to reopen in August 2020.  While we are in the business of educating students, our first priority is the safety of our students and staff.  Rest assured, our district leaders have been working diligently on a CREC school reopening plan.  Once finalized, the CREC reopening plan will be sent to families from our superintendent of schools, Tim Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan will include in his correspondence a questionnaire for ALL families to complete. It is crucial that you respond to these questions as your responses will help us finalize many of our plans.

In the coming weeks, I will be sending out a family letter that outlines our school’s priorities and guidelines for the 2020-2021 school year.  As you know, in the midst of planning our COVID-19 response, there will be many new protocols and procedures that we are still developing to address our new challenges.

All reopening plans and information will be sent to families via School Messenger and posted on our school’s website.  Once this information is disseminated, I will follow up by holding a Zoom meeting for families in order to answer questions, as well as, faculty and staff zoom meetings.

Thank you for your continued support as we strive to do what is best for ALL of our students and staff during these challenging times.

Kind Regards,

Karen Mooney
