The Connecticut Chinese Language Academy and ASI have agreed to a partnership that will help benefit both schools. CCLA Principal Guan Changhui and ASI Principal Bob McCain have been meeting since last year in order to create a lasting partnership.  Starting September 9th and every Sunday until the end of the school year, CCLA will hold classes here at the school from 9:00 AM-Noon. The Academy has an enrollment of 800 students.  Below is a summary about Principal Changhui:

Guan Changhui, Ph.D., works at Jackson Laboratory. He joined the Kanghua Chinese School in 2015 and has taught Chinese in the fifth and seventh grades so far. Through the network and multimedia teaching, Principal  Changhui will enable students to learn more about Chinese culture and the great achievements of China's social development and enhance their pride as Chinese. Since 2016, Principal Changhui has opened a chorus class at the school to entertain and educate students and organized a student choir to participate in charity performances outside of the school.  The school has participated in the Spring Festival Evening of the Chinese Society, the condolence performance of the West Hartford Community Retirement Home, as well as events at the Vernon YMCA. Principal Changhui has organized World Multicultural Nights, Hartford's Dragon Boat Asian Culture Festival and other activities that showcase the talents of his school and introduce Chinese culture. The CCLA is hopeful that the school will continue to make great strides under the leadership of Principal Changhui!

Many of the 800 students who will be attending class on Sunday at ASI  live in Hartford and New Britain. We are hopeful that the partnership will generate more students who will want to attend our school. However, even more exciting, Principal Changhui has generously offered us slots for our students to learn Mandarin! More details about this to follow soon.
